Still - 1935Grain spirit is distilled using a ‘Coffey’ Still. The Coffey Still was patented in 1830 by a Dublin excise man named Aeneas Coffey, hence the name.

The North British has four Coffey stills, and each is fed continuously with between 35,000 – 40,000 litres of wash per hour, producing spirit at strength of 94.5% alcohol.
